Fresh Snowfall Hits Lumby — Backcountry Conditions Just Got Better
Winter isn’t finished with us yet.
Overnight Lumby received approximately 8 inches of fresh snowfall, giving the entire region a welcome refresh just when many riders were wondering how much longer the season might last.
And if you’ve spent any time riding the surrounding mountains, you know the rule: when Lumby gets snow, the mountains usually get more.
Areas throughout the Monashees and surrounding backcountry zones are likely seeing significantly deeper accumulations, meaning riders willing to explore may find some excellent late-season powder.
A Perfect Late-Season Boost
Fresh snow like this can dramatically improve riding conditions. Not only does it help cover up older tracked-out terrain, but it also refreshes the snowpack and opens the door for new lines and hidden powder pockets.
Late season riding often means:
-
smoother base conditions
-
better traction on climbs
-
less traffic in the backcountry
-
surprise powder stashes in sheltered areas
For snowbikers and sledders, this kind of unexpected snowfall can turn an ordinary weekend into a memorable ride.
